Tonight was Earth Hour. It was from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. It is a time for people to cut off their lights and unneccessary electric devices to mark a stand against global warming and energy inefficiency. I did take part in this event, but I do not believe any of my neighbors did. It does not surprise me. .
At any rate, I tried to do my part, and I try to do it every day, not just Earth Hour. Do your part, and try to reduce your power consumption. Besides saving the planet, you will be saving money.

A Wet St. Patrick's Day Parade for 2009
I was going to photograph the 2009 St. Patrick's Day Parade for several reasons. One being the fact that my fellow Fire Fighters from the Roanoke Fire Fighters Association were in the parade, and second was for this blog, to document an event in the city of Roanoke. However, a set of circumstances conspired that morning to make me arrive late, and I managed to catch the last half of the parade as it traveled down Campbell Avenue toward Williamson Rd. The up side was I did get to see some of the parade. The down side was that most everyone was wet, cold, and tired at that point. The number of smiling faces was at a minimum. However, kudos to those who marched and participated in the parade, and those who braved the elements to watch.
Here are a few of the images that I captured on that cold, rainy Saturday morning.
